In a breakthrough for health coaches, the American Medical Association (AMA) has approved the creation of new Category III CPT® codes for health and well-being coaching, effective Jan 1, 2020.
• 0591T Health and Well-Being Coaching face-to-face; individual, initial assessment
• 0592T individual, follow-up session, at least 30 minutes
• 0593T group (two or more individuals), at least 30 minutes
While this is great news, at this time, these codes are not eligible for reimbursement with most insurance companies. The rates displayed here are due prior to service via online card payment.
If you speak with your insurance company and they agree to reimbuse you, I can provide a Superbill from each session for you to submit to them.

The official answer: Health & Wellness coaching helps you cultivate the ability to make self-directed, lasting changes, aligned with your values. The practical answer: Health & Wellness coaching helps you get better at making the changes you want to make deep down. It helps you shift your focus towards what is going well and build on it, with a growth mindset.
It might be strange to imagine a coaching program that doesn’t just tell you what to eat or how to how to exercise, because our society is full of these types of programs. But, as most of us have heard, 95% of diets fail us. Health & wellness coaching is different because it relies on evidence-based practices proven to facilitate long-lasting change. Your coach will ask you questions that make you think and reflect back to you your strengths. You’ll work together to identify the resources in your life that can get you to your goals. When appropriate, a coach may assist with meal ideas or personal training.

How long does Health & Wellness Coaching take to work?
In Health & Wellness Coaching, we focus on behavior-oriented outcomes. So, rather than setting a goal of ‘losing 10lbs in 3 months’, we’ll set a goal like ‘In 3 months, I will be drinking 8 glasses of water every day, sleeping 8 hours a night, and strength training 3 days a week’. We’ll build up the healthy habits that will carry us through life.

What happens after the initial coaching program?
Once you join the client roster and go through an initial program (be it 4, 8, or 12 weeks), the relationship isn’t over! In fact it’s just getting started. As your initial program comes to an end, we’ll determine a check-in cadence going forward. Some people want to move to monthly or quarterly check-ins, while others prefer an annual wellness check-in. At a minimum, you will receive an email 1-2 times a year just reminding you of the services that are available to you.
