Ice Age Trail Report: Greenwood through Chaffe Creek, Valley View
It was a hot weekend on the trail! Enjoyed every second of it, though, because it’s been a while since I got a full weekend of hiking in. Fri/Sat I did Wedde Creek, Chaffe Creek, Mecan River, and partial Greenwood in little 4 mile chunks. My favorite part might have been the bike shuttling. Some fun downhills for minimal-moderate uphill work around this area if you plan it right and the car breaks made it feel doable on such a hot day!
Sunday I wasn’t finding good bike routes for Greenwood-Bohn Lake area, so I headed down to do Valley View and surrounding CRs where I knew I could use Lyft as a shuttle.
I only saw 2 people on the trail (Valley View) and I think they were just walking their dog since the trail was behind houses. Very quiet! Made for a peaceful weekend.
I stayed at Tomorrow Wood Campground. The lady I spoke with and checked in with was very nice. There was a shower house (nothing fancy, but worked for me) and nice large, shady tent spots. Not exactly the place to keep a low profile, though. Mostly “seasonal” campers and people were a little too curious about me as a solo camper/hiker for my liking. I prefer a place I can blend in more.
Until next month! Happy hiking.
